Bai Sao Beach

Much of original lowland tropical evergreen forest cover has been cleared leaving behind a mix of agricultural and secondary forest landscape and a variety of rural and settlements. From Duong Dong head east to pretty Ham Ninh Fishing Village, turning right 4km before the village just after Tranh Springs.

Past Phu Quoc Coconut prison, a historical former prison built during the French and American wars, head through Cau Sau town. Just as you are leaving the town, turn right to stunning Bai Sao Beach. Glistening, squeaky white sand, turquoise water and a semi-abandoned feel make this one of the top spots on Phu Quoc. Try some seafood at My Lan restaurant.

An Thoi

An Thoi is little more than a working fishing port but take some time to enjoy the local life and stop for a coffee by the port.

Off the southern tip of Phu Quoc are the tiny An Thoi Islands. These 15 islands and islets can be visited by chartered boat, and it's a fine area for fishing, swimming and snorkeling.

Most boats depart from An Thoi on Phu Quoc, but you can make arrangements through hotels in Duong Dong.

Long Beach

From the port head back up the stunning west coast road which follows Long Beach all the way back to Duong Dong.

Stop off at Phu Quoc Pearl Farm for coffee and good ice cream to take in the sunset on your way home.
