Group after some adventure

Where to Stay

With its rustic bungalows and scattered ox-wagons, Mango Bay has the feel of a beach side plantation. With an emphasis on eco friendliness, so no TV or Air Con, this will suit those really wanting to get away from it all.

Where to Drink

Start off for a sunset drink at Rainbow Bar (Beachside, next door to Mai House), not the most atmospheric place but with a group you can make your own. A short walk down the beach will take you to Eden Bar the other side of La Veranda. Enjoy some cocktails and a game of pool. They will probably shut down early but for a late night drink head to Dog Bar (Alleyway leading to Kim Hoa), a good atmosphere and your choice of pool, darts and large TV for those sporting events.

Squid Fishing may not sound too adventurous, though when was the last time you've been squid fishing at night? There's plenty of tours on offer, so head out for an evening of squid fishing and if you're lucky you'll have your own self caught dinner grilled on the spot.

Where to Go

If youre staying at Mango Bay you're going to need to rent some bikes or you are pretty much stuck there. You could easily make 3 day trips around the island, checking out some of the secluded beaches, take a picnic?

Travelling around the island is one of most fun things you can do, but beware – many of the island's roads are not paved. Sturdy shoes and long trousers are a prerequisite. Scooters are easily rented from most hotels. In Duong Dong town you can see (and smell!) the fish sauce factories. Nearby is Suoi Tranh waterfall which is about 4m high (sometimes from January to May water can be a little lacking).

Checkout Bai Sao on the east coast, reputed to be the best beach on the island, think white sand and turquoise sea. Find a deserted spot on long beach to stop for a swim. In the northern part of the island the terrain gets more mountainous, and the roads a little more bumpy. Lots of isolated beaches are waiting to be found, along the way up to Dai Beach and beyond

Sad to say Jetskis have made their way to Phu Quoc but if that is your thing, head down to Eden bar and give one a ride.

If you want to see a spectacular waterfall then Da Ngon is what you're looking for. The pool at the bottom is famed as a 'natural Jacuzzi'. It's located deep in the jungle so a guided tour is the best way to see it and tours take half a day.
